Show Rhoda Jensen, active church worker dies in Parowan; services held Rhoda Elizabeth Gurr i Jensen 86 died June 17, 1977 in the Iron County Nursing Home of natural causes. She was born Jan. 21, 1891 in Parowan, to John Henry Gurr and Mary E. Paramore. Married Joseph M. Jensen July 12, 1909 in Parowan. He died March 2, 1964. Rhoda was a housewife and a member of the LDS Church where she was active ac-tive in Relief Society and Primary. She is survived by a son and daughter, LaMar Gurr Jensen of Parowan, and Mrs. Fred (Marietta) Murphy of Salt Lake City. Also surviving are six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister Mrs. LaMond S. (Laura) McQuarrie. Funeral services were held Monday, June 20, 1977 at 2 p.m. in the Parowan Third LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Reginald Hughes conducting. The family prayer was offered by Wm. Gary Jensen with Itha Mortensen playing the prelude, postlude music and Arnold Gurr giving the Invocation. Jean Hen- drickson gave a Eulogy followed by a vocal duet by Gary Jensen and Bonnie Thayer "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked" acc. by Roma Jensen. Speakers were LaMar G. Jensen and L. S. McQuarrie with remarks by Bishop Reginald Hughes. The tird ward choir sang the Lord's Prayer with Elmer Gurr giving the benediction and Verl Taylor dedicating the grave. Interment In-terment was in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury & Graff Mortuary. |
