Show 4-H'ers study Family Conservation Conservation was the theme of the 1977 Utah 4-H Conference held this year in Ephraim, but the topics of energy and natural resources were seldom mentioned. Instead, the focus of the conference was on conserving con-serving families and family conservation. The 200 4-H'ers 4-H'ers in attendance even got the word from Henry Winkler, better known to them as the "Fonz." "My family was very important to me. Get to know yours," Winler said during a two-day telephone conference which gave the 4-H'ers 4-H'ers an opportunity to ask the Fonz questions. The conference participants par-ticipants also had an opportunity op-portunity to chat with Congressman Gunn McKay and Ruby Price, Utah's mother of the year. One of the primary objectives ob-jectives of this year's conference con-ference was to make the 4-H'ers 4-H'ers aware of the need for advanced preparation in assuming the responsibilities respon-sibilities associated with dating, marriage and parenthood. The conference, sponosred by Utah State University in cooperation with Standard Oil Company of California, brought together outstanding out-standing 4-H'ers from every county in the state. Also attending were USU 4-H agents and volunteer 4-H leaders. Other topics of discussion during the conference were money management, the art of dating, and coping with feelings of inferiority. Attending from Cedar City were: Nikki Ence, Jan Halsey, Cinday Esplin, Joy Lynn Scott and leaders Marva Esplin and Zola Halsey. |
