Ronald McDonald, made his visit to the Valley View Medical Center as part of the Grand Opening activities of the new Cedar City McDonald's Mc-Donald's Restaurant. First stop on his Saturday afternoon tour of hospital patiants was Richie Crockett, an Arizona youngster who was in the hospital to have his appendix removed. In addition to the balloons and Big Mac Attack Pack, Ronald presented Richie with several other gifts, all of which brought a wide smile to the young boy's face. Ronald was able to stop and see nearly every patient in the Medical Center, including in-cluding a quick peek at the six newborns and their mothers. The visit by Ronald capped a full day's activities that were a part of the celebration at Cedar's newest fast-food restaurant. Grand Opening activities got underway just after noon on the 18th. "We were exceptionally pleased with the turnout of our friends in the area," said Steve Heaton, Owner-Operator Owner-Operator of the restaurant. "We also were very happy to have had such fine cooperation from local groups and organizations in making our Grand Opening such a success," Heaton said, refering to the Cedar High School band which provided music for the occasion, oc-casion, the Cedar Second Ward Boy Scout Troop which provided the Honorary Color Guard at the flag raising ceremony, and civic officials which participated. Representing the city, the cutting the grand opening ribbon was Mike Embley, Cedar City Manager. The ribbon was made of 100 new one-dollar bills, which was donated to the Valley View Medical Center Foundation after Embley cut it with a spatula. Accepting the donation for the foundation and the hospital were Dixie Leavitt, foundation head, and Reggie Hughes, Hospital Administrator. Ad-ministrator. Representing the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, and speaking to the large crowd of people in attendance, was Garth Jones, Executive Secretary of the Chamber. VISITS HOSPITAL. Ronald McDonald made a brief hospital stop in Cedar City as part of their grand opening event. All patients were given a gift, such as Richie Crockett who received a back pack. |
