Show Region 8 Football Pa rowan host Mil ford Tigers in Opener PAROWAN - This Friday, the Parowan Ram Football j team opens Region 8 play t with Milford on the Rams j home field. ' New Ram Coach Scott I Doubek says the Rams j should be tough in Region this year. All Region 8 I schools except Beaver have ? a new head coach this year and there could be a J scramble for the Region j Title. "Beaver looks to be the I coach Doubek. "Hopefully the inexperienced and the experienced can come together as a team." Here is the Ram schedule with all games beginning at 7:30. August 25, Milford at Parowan. Sept. 1, Moapa at Parowan. Sept. 8, Kanab at Parowan. Sept. 15, North Sevier at Parowan (Homecoming) Sept. 22, Parowan at Beaver. Sept. 29, Parowan at Milford Oct. 13, Parowan at Kanab. Oct. 19, Parowan at North Sevier. Oct. 27, Beaver at Parowan. strongest team again this year, said coach Doubek. "We should do much better this year in Region than we did last year. The Rams only victory last year came against Milford 16-23. "We're a young team this year but have experienced in key positions," Doubek commented. There are several outstanding returning players from last year. Brian Johnson will paly defensive back as well as tailback. Randy Lister will once again play his strong defensive tackle position. Pat Benson will return at tight end and defensive end this year. The Rams lost probably their best player last Saturday in an intersquad scrimmage. Roger Bentley, who promised lo play a strong fullback and defensive tackle, broke his ankle in two places and will be lost for the season. "I hated to see it happen to Roger because he is such a dedicated ball player," Doubek said. Phil Lawson will take Bentley's place at defensive tackle and K. C. Fiack or Todd Robinson will play fullback. Mark Matheson and Dave Hulet will be at the quarterback spot. Matheson has improved since practice began not having much experience prior to this season. Hulet was the junior varsity quarterback last year and could see some time at quarterback. "Milford should be a good opening contest for us," said |
