Simpson, member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be in attendance at the Cedar City Utah North Stake Conference Con-ference scheduled September 2 and 3. Special sessions of the conference have been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2, according to Robert Blattner, Stake President. Sunday's general session, scheduled at 10 a.m. at the North Stake House, is open to the public. Simpson has served as a General Authority of the LDS Church since October 1961, at which time he was called to the first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric. He served for ten and one-half years where his prime responsibility was supervising youth programs. The visiting authority is a native of Salt Lake City. His early childhood was spent in southern California where he received his formal education, graduating from Santa Monica City College. Following three years of missionary service in New Zealand, he participated in World War II as a Captain in the U. S. Air Force, serving in North Africa and the Middle East. |
