Show .py u CAPTURES HONORS. This entry from the Parowan Third Ward captured first place honors in the Parowan Independance Day Celebration. Parowan enjoys Exciting 4th PAROWAN - Parowan residents and visitors enjoyed en-joyed a very busy and exciting ex-citing 4th of July celebration. The prade winners were Parowan Third Ward first place, Parowan City second place and Bank of Iron County third place. In the miniature section of the parade Kelly Stones placed first, Monica Rowley second and Kamy Barton third. A large number of people attended the breakfast served by the scouts from the First Ward, and dined on sour dough pancakes. The "Anything goes" games sponsored by the Parowan Fire Dept. featured competition between bet-ween the three Parowan Wards, with Parowan Second Ward defeating the reigning Third Ward champions. They were presented with a beautiful trophy. Second Ward team members were Jill Stubbs, Mike Jones, Connie Bess, Alma Adams, Teresa Lister and. Jim Rassmussen. The patriotic program featured Max Dalley as the speaker and some musical numbers by Ramona Stubbs, Roma Jensen, Janice Patterson, Ann Gurr and Chris Burton. Also two numbers by the PHS band. Uncle Sam was portrayed by Gorden Farnsworth and the Goddess of Liberty by Marilyn Hanks and they both spoke briefly. The races sponsored by The Red Hill Wranglers were very well attended and the feature race of one mile and seventy yards was won by Notary owned by , Joe Comen of Parowan. An outstanding fireworks display was presented for the hundreds of spectators at the race track that evening. This was sponsored by the Parowan and Paragonah Volunteer Fire Departments with Albert Orton and An-tone An-tone Robinson, fire chiefs. |
