Show fTJ GRAND MARSHALL. Arch Benson, lifelong resident of Parowan served as Gran Marshall for the Independence Indepen-dence Day Festivities at Parowan July 4th. Arch Benson Honored on 4th PAROWAN - Arch Benson, a lifetime Parowan resident was grand marshall for the Parowan Fourth of July Parade. Mr. Benson is 81 years i young, he lost most of his vision several years ago, but he still does a lot of horseback hor-seback riding and has always enjoyed good horses. He was educated in Parowan schools and went one year to the BNS at Cedar City. He was foreman in the CCC Camp here for six years and was Deputy Iron County Sheriff for nine years. He worked on the state road until retirement. He also was a farmer and a cat tleman. He is married to Fae Nelson since December 1919. This marriage was later solomnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1965. The Bensons are the parents of two children, Jay A. of Parowan and Sarah B. Bayles of Salt Lake. They have four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Benson was presented with a plaque honoring his day as grand marshall with a beautiful horses head carved of wood by John Lovric.
