Show Charles Jenkins exhibits Art Portfolio A 17-piece collection of drawings, oil paintings, sculpture, sculp-ture, pottery and water colors is being exhibited through March 26 at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Galley, Southern Utah State College. The exhibit includes works created by Charles Jenkins, a senior art education major from Nephi, for his Senior Art Portfolio. Port-folio. Jenkins explains that the Senior Art Portfolio is a graduation requirement for all SUSC art majors. Through this exhibit, the student's works are displayed for public viewing and visually demonstrate how well rounded the artist is in dealing with the various artistic media. Included in Jenkin's exhibit are several three-dimensional pieces, his favorites because "they are real rather than illusionary. "Art is a very personal form of expression," he says. "It begins deep within , evolving and changing, emerging as an appendage ap-pendage of one's inner self. Art that conveys a distinct feeling or concept allows the artist a means of emotional communication." The 1969 graduate of Juab High School attended Dixie College for a year before finishing his education at SUSC. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Barres Jenkins, Nephi. Jenkins did his student teaching last winter at Cedar High School and plans to combine com-bine careers in farming and teaching secondary art education. He owns and operates an irrigated farm near Nephi and will return there following graduation this quarter. |
