Show Sherry Lynn SylarSU Band Guest Soloist I " I ' j I ir Washington state. He was so impressed with her musicianship and artistic expression ex-pression that he extended an invitation to her to perform with the Band on their upcoming MENC appearances in the Salt Lake City area. Miss Sylar is the principal oboe soloist with the Evanvill Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the Evansville Philharmonic Philhar-monic Woodwind Quintet. She appeared in Spoleto, Italy with the Festival Orchestra of Two Worlds and is also on the instrumental in-strumental staff of the Marrowstone Music Festival in Washington. In addition to her solo work with the Symphony Band Miss Sylar will also be giving several master classes at the College. "Miss Sylar," states Dr. Allen, "is one of the finest performers, musically, that I have ever heard. Her expression and line development are flawless and the intensity of timbre is amazing." Also featured on the SUSC Symphony Band's concert will be the SUSC Brass Quintet, Flute Quartet and Wind Quartet. These three small ensembles are comprised com-prised of many of the finest performers at the College and demonstrate a high level of competency. There will be a charge for this Band concert. The Band needs traveling expenses ex-penses for their upcoming tour and the ticket money derived from this concert will assist in transportation expenses. While in the Salt Lake City area members of the Symphony Band will be housed by the families of SUSC Band members living in that area. We invite 'all music patrons of the community to join with us for an evening of great music.
