Rams win Consolation in Tourney What appeared to be another losing season became a dream come true for the Parowan Rams last Friday and Saturday as the up and coming team defeated Valley, 72-54 and the Kanab Cowboys 72 to 61 to claim the consolation spot in the round robin. Friday's game with the Bulldogs started to be one of these "Oh, hum, here we go again" games as the Valley crew led at the half by six, 28-34. But as the second half started, one could see that the Rams had been moved to action from locker room's heated "chewing" of Coach Ralph Riggs and Jerry Dyer, as the Rams scored 17 points to the Bulldogs one. The Rams led 45 to 35 to begin the second quarter. Parowan continued to dominate the game scoring 26 points to 19 for the Valley squad, to claim the victory. vic-tory. Tom Robinson was amazing with his 28 points. Brad Fife, hit for 14, Mike Benson tallied 10 Brent Rowley 6, Dona Hulet and Kim Bess, 4 each, Mike Robinson 3 and Mike Evans 2. Playing for the consolation spot was a great opportunity for the Rams and they proved themselve against Kanab, who had beaten them twice druing the season. The game was close during the first half with the score knotted at 32 mid-way. Tom Robinson got into early foul trouble and coach Riggs called on Mike Evans to take over in Tom's absence. While Tom was on the bench, Parowan continued to play well and found themselves ahead 50 to 44 at the three quarters mark. This proved to many fans that next year's team should also be strong, as only one senior remained on the floor. Kanab tried to play man to man on the Rams, but couldn't interrupt in-terrupt the composure the Rams maintained during the final period. Tom Robinson fouled out with two and one half imnutes to play and Brad Fife left the floor with 5 fouls in the closing seconds, but Parowan continued to play excellent ex-cellent and the final score was 72-, 72-, 61. Brad Fife showed much promise as he totalled 25 points, Tom Robinson 14, Brent Rowley 10, and Donald Hulet, Micke Mike Benson and . .ike Evans each had 8. TK AM KFKOHT.
