Show Parowan Council gives Benson, BeUridgs city electrical jobs, hears water engineer At the regular meeting oi the Parowan City council on Monday night Clair Benson vas appointed as the new city electrician, to take the place of veteran Ross Guymon at the time he retires next month, according to word glen gl-en t ) us by Dennis Lowder, ity recorder. At the same time James Bcttiidge was appointed ap-pointed as a power plant operator op-erator to assist Howard Ras-nussen Ras-nussen in opei'fding the two city owned hydro-electric gen crating plants. Benson has been employed n the city electrical department depart-ment for several years, and has been working with Mr. Guymon during recent months as well as operating the power pow-er plants.. Mr. Bettridge is a Parowan native, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bettridge, now of Paragonah, anil he is reported re-ported to have had considerable considera-ble experience along the electrical line. Among other matters of business bus-iness considered by the council coun-cil were the following: Bruce Bunting, chief of police po-lice met with the council to I. discuss the curlew law which Parowan City has. The council approved an appropriation ap-propriation of ,S!V) to help defray the cost of Ihe l.ilih' and senior Little League baseball base-ball programs in the city. Bids for the sale of the old j backhoc which the city has,! were opened and tlie bid of Richard B. Zcrkle was accepted. accep-ted. The bid ot S350 for the backhoc was accepted by thej city. The remainder of the meet- j ing was spent discussing the; proposed water system hn- I provements with Ralph Plait, j city engineer. Mr. Piatt in- j formed the council that plans : ind specification are now be- ing prepared by him for the proposed new water storage i reservoir and a new and larg- er pipe lino in the Parowan j Canyon to connect the storage facilities with the springs in the canyon which will furnish water for the system. |
