He noted thai v mistaKes can be made anu federal and state funds have been allocated for expenditure in the amount of $20 million for the three county area of Beaver, Iron and Washington. We have tried to take into consideration two major factors fac-tors in establishing the Interstate Inter-state system, he said. First of those factors is the benefit to the area and second is the accomodation ' of the through traffic. Master of ceremonies for the dedication was Henry C. Holland, Hol-land, Director of Highways for the State of Utah. Clem Church, chairman of the State Road Commission also spoke briefly at the services ser-vices and indicated that the Virgin River Gorge project of the Interstate system connect, ing Utah and Arizona may be completed a year ahead of schedule. He credited the work of Governor Gov-ernor Rampton in stimulating the project and encouraging the Arizona department to meet their commitments to , make this possible. Church indicated that Utah expects to call for bids for the section from Middleton to South St. George and from South St. George to the Arizona Ari-zona line this fall and winter. Remarks were also made by George Bohn, Division Engineer Engin-eer with the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads and the delegation delega-tion and residents were 'welcomed 'wel-comed by Mayor Loren Whet-ten. Whet-ten. Musical entertainment was furnished by the Cedar City Junior High School Band. Dedicatory prayer was offered of-fered by Rev. Grayson Gowen of the Cedar City Presbyterian church. He expressed thanks to God for the aouiidance of natural beauty surrounding the area and dedicated the highway facilities . that .they might make it possible for mankind to see the work of the master and to enjoy, with safety, the beauties of nature, that they may commune with Him. Governor Hampton indicated 1 that the state has received I approval of the addition by the feueral government but i that the $100,000 estimated cost for the project will be i taken solely from state funds.
