Show Pioneer day celebration in Cedar detailed by sponsors Bigger and better plans are underway to honor our Utah Pioneers on July 2-lth according accord-ing to Bp. R. C. Morris, genera chairman of the evening. A parade featuring Cedar City's Senior Citizens and carrying car-rying out a theme of "Our Chosen Land" will begin at 9:00 a. m. Parade is slated to travel from Safeway's parking lot north to the City Park. Prizes will be offered in float competition and cash prizes of $25, $15 and $10 will be awarded, it was pointed out. All interested individuals or groups are encouraged to participate par-ticipate by Evelyn Jones, parade par-ade chairman. Other members of the parade committee include in-clude Yvonne Bulloch, Laur-ena Laur-ena Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Howard How-ard Wood, Prof. Ha Campbell and LaRue Morris. Those wishing to enter the parade are asked to contact any member mem-ber of the committee. Parade entries will begin as. sembling at 8:30 a. m. Following the parade, a program, under the direction of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Pio-neers, will be held in the Cedar Ce-dar First Ward Chapel. ! Booths will be be erected on the park with ball pitching, fish ponds, a dunking machine to provide entertainment for the young people. In addition concessions for food, balloons and favors will be available. , The day's celebration is be-j be-j ing sponsored by the Cedar Wrcst Stake and all proceeds from the events and activities will be used to complete the blacktopping of the parking area at the West Stake House on 900 West Street. |
