Wayne Miffin, left, newly appointed softball commissioner commis-sioner discusses upcoming season with Max Bonzo, an officer of the Cedar City Softball Association. 1972 Softball plans get underway Announcement is also made of the appointment of Wayne Miflin of Cedar City to serve on a Deputy Softball Commission Com-mission for the Amateur Softball Soft-ball Association. He will represent re-present all of southwestern Utah south of Provo. Activities of the ASA through the affiliation in the area will include the coordin ation of all softball related events including league and tournament play. Presently plans are being formulated to conduct a mid-summer tour-nament tour-nament and a pitching clinic clin-ic Expected to participate will be several area teams along with teams from Eastern Nevada and northern Utah. A work day at the Cedar City Softball park has been called for Saturday, Apr, 15, according to Rodger Chambers, Cham-bers, president of the league. A request for all softball players who plan to participate partici-pate in the program this year to attend, has been issued is-sued by the officers. Work will begin at 9 a.m. and plans call for replanting of grass and other work and repairs on the park. Players should bring a rake to assist In addition plans are moving mov-ing ahead for the league organization or-ganization and a meeting has been called for May 3 at which time organization will be completed for the 1972 season. Each team is requested request-ed to be represented at the meeting. |
