Dale Hatch and Mike Pratt, two very likeable athletes led the Redmen to two Important victories and a probable league lea-gue championship for the Red-men. Then Saturday night the Redmen came up with a fine second half of play to defeat thg Hurricane Tigers 80-00. The victories left the Red-men Red-men atop the league standing stand-ing in the southern division of Region Eight. Good One to Win Friday's victory over the Flyers Fly-ers was a thriller to win, but a heartbreakor for the Flyers. With 35 minutes of playing time accumulated in the overtime over-time battle the Redmen held a lead for only a few seconds once in the fourth period of play and again at the end of the overtime. ' As a matter of fact aside from the brief a few seconds sec-onds in the fourth quarter when the Cedar Illgh Redmen were on lead, they never held a tie until the final four seconds sec-onds of play when Mike Pratt tipped in a missed foul shot. The Flyers did not have time to recover and the Redmen forced the game into the overtime over-time period. In the overtime the Flyers hit two quick buckets to take a lead, and again the Red-men Red-men had to fight back to tie the score at 65 all. Dixie again I moved ahead by two only to have Pratt tip in another missed mis-sed foul to tie the score at 67 all. With only 19 seconds remaining re-maining in the overtime the Redmen regained possession and called a time out. Working Work-ing from a set pattern the Redman Red-man flooded one side of the court, sent guard Hatch a-round a-round the opposite side and hit him for a cripple underneath under-neath for an easy bucket for the Redmen's second lead of the game and the victory. Outstanding Defense Hatch was particularly effective ef-fective in the contcstleading the Redmen scoring with a total of 21 points, but possibly even more outstanding was his defensive play which resulted re-sulted in a number of steals. Pratt pumped in a total of 16 points in the game, and contributed con-tributed towering strength on the boards to aid the Redmen cause. Randy Clove performed steadily at forward with a 10 point output and Wayne Esplin Es-plin and Wade Roberts each added nine points. Roberts fouled out in the fourth quarter quar-ter and Kim Matheson filled in the void spot and added four points. Gentry of the Flyers was the big factor for his team's lead throughout most of the contest con-test with some fine drives and outside shooting. He hit for 21 points in the game. The Flyers Fly-ers sent Seegmiller and Hunt to the bench in the fourth period per-iod on fouls and it was the margin of fouls that was the final difference. Both clubs hit 25 fieldgoals and both attempted at-tempted 28 foul shots. The Redmen hit 19 of their foul attempts at-tempts and the Flyers tanked only 17. Saturday the Redmen were in another tough battle for a full half against Hurricane, but broke from a one point intermission in-termission deficit to take command of the game and a final victory in the third period. per-iod. Double Figures All five of the Redmen starters start-ers were in double figures, led by Mike Pratt with 23 points. Pratt hit 10 fieldgoals but was cold from the foul line with only three of 11 attempts. Hatch hit for 15 points followed follow-ed by Roberts with 13, Esplin with 11 and Clove with 10.
