Show Dee Urie Succumbs FolloYing Surgery; Final Rites Held i Funeral services were con-1 ducted in the Cedar Third-! Fourth Ward Chapel Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18, for Dee V. 'l Uric, 51, of Salt Lake City and native of Cedar City. Mr. Urie died Tuesday, Feb. 14, ; in a Salt Lake City hospital' following brain surgery. I He was born In Cedar City on Jan. 21, 1916, a son of D. I Claude and Martha Jane Per- 1 kins Urie. He married Velma Esplin on Dec. 3, 1939, and they were later divorced. j He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of B. P. O. E. Lodge No. 1556, and had been employed by Pacific Intermountain Express i (PIE) for 23 years. Survivors include a daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Alan (LaRoe) Garfield, Gar-field, Las Vegas; two grandchildren; grand-children; his mother, Cedar City; three sisters, Mrs. Phyl-lis Phyl-lis DeRose, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Eulan (Lois) Woodbury, and Mrs. Chester (Utah) Bar-rick, Bar-rick, both of Cedar City. The services were conducted by Rulan D. Woodbury. Speakers Speak-ers included John M. Brown and Marvin Crawford. Invocation Invoca-tion was by Cal Robb, benediction bene-diction by David Urie, dedication dedica-tion of the grave by Sherrell Jack Sawyers, and prayer at the mortuary prior to the services ser-vices was by Alan Garfield. The musical program included in-cluded a vocal solo, "Riding Down the Canyon," by Steven Grimshaw, and a vocal solo by Sandra B. Robb. Prelude and postlude music was by Ada Palmer. Burial was in the Cedar City Cemetery, under the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary. |
