Show i Kiwanis Wins Two Games in Week, Take Lead in American Little League Race in the second inning of play Monday night to take a lead that Coleman couldn't overtake. over-take. Craig Rollo picked up the mound victory and Chris Marchant homered for Rotary while Brad Davis belted a round triper for Coleman. Lee Holmes and Jon Reese were on the piound for Coleman. Tuesday night it was Spils-bury Spils-bury taking Milne out of first place with an 8, to 3 victory. Lindsay Whitehead captured the mound victory as Spils-bury Spils-bury took an early lead and held it throughout. Dave Kan-psh Kan-psh and Robert Shirts were on the mound for the losers. , Kiwanis 3 1 .750 Milne 3 2 .600 Coleman 3 2 .600 Spilsbury 2 3 .400 Rotary 1 4 .200 Kiwanis had a thing going for them during this past week as they picked up two victories victor-ies with identical scores to move out in first place in the American Little League. The Kiwanis defeated Milne 4 to 3 early in the week, then came back with a 4 to 3 victory vic-tory over Rotary. Against Milne it was Steve Hafen picking pick-ing up the mound victory. Scoreless through three innings, in-nings, Kiwanis picked up a pair in the fourth frame. Milne gathered one run and they both scored two runs in the fifth. Robert Shirts suffered the loss for Milne. Against Rotary Ray Meyers pitched the mound victory. Kiwanis scored two in the first inning when they picked up a walk, got another man on base on an error and Layne Sutherland belted a single to drive both runs across. For Rotary they scored one run in the second, fourth and fifth, but could not get any other across the plate despite the fact that they out hit Kiwanis 8 to 5. Kay Nelson and Ricky Rollo saw mound duty for the losers. Coleman suffered a loss and picked up a win in the week's action. They defeated Spilsbury Spils-bury 9 to 5 last week then came back to suffer a 17 to 11 setback at the hands of Rotary. Ro-tary. Coleman got off to a four run lead in the first inning of play on a grandslam home run by Tony Lister and never relinquished relin-quished the lead against Spils. bury. Lee Holmes and Steve Stoker were on the mound for the victors. In the previous week's activities Stoker belted his first little league home run to help the Coleman crew stay n the running for the second half championship. Rotary pushed over 11 runs |
