Show Cedar Youth Council Reorganizes As Five Complete Appointments The Cedar City Youth Council, Coun-cil, a working committee of the Coordinating Council, is announcing several changes in the council membership, according ac-cording to Ila Corry, Coordinating Coordin-ating Council chairman. New additions are being made to fill thr vacancinc mnrlo hv the years and many projects for young people have been tried. At the present time, several activities ar.e in pro gross, including: control o sale of liquor and tobacco tc minors, control of obscene li torature, youth employment npnHt; and Topn fnnnnil Al I the termination of appointments appoint-ments of five members who hav? served faithfully for nany years. j The Youth Council, according accord-ing to Mrs. Corry, is the youngest of the Coordinating Council Committees but has been one of the most active. U has served the youth of this community since 1955. Local Organization The Youth Council was organized or-ganized on a local levl at i the request of State agencies I including PTA, who wore greatly concerned with juvenile juven-ile problems throughout the tate. The Youth Council was organized or-ganized by the Coordinating Council, which has had the organizational responsibility cinco that time. They try to choose a committee which will represent all factions of the community. An attempt is made to secure membership which has interest in young people ami their problems and is anxious to work with tlvm. School, church, and juvenile officers are included. According to Mrs. Corry, the five members of the counci' being released include: Dub Leigh, past chairman, who har boon a member of the council coun-cil for 9 years, chairman fo' 3 of those years. Ethel Farnsworth was ins trumental in getting the coun cil organized in 1955 and has served as vice chairman with each succeeding chairman since then. High School Representative Pratt Bethers has served as the representative of the high school for 11 years, helped with organization of the Teen Council, and has been a valuable val-uable resource person. Elwood Corry has been a member for 7 years, a chairman chair-man for 3 of them. His assignment as-signment has been control of liquor and tobacco among teens.
