Show Gov. Calvin Rampton to Officially Open Shakespearean Festival The play to be presented the first night of the Festival is "Merchant of Venice" directed di-rected by Dr. Brian Hansen, serving his first year as a guest director. Dr. Hansen has recently taught at San Diego State College and this fall assumes as-sumes the position of senior consultant in theater for the Central Midwest Regional Educational Ed-ucational Laboratories with headqwaitor ir St. Louis, Mo. Plays scheduled for Tuesday Governor Calvin L. Rampton and Mrs. Rampton will officially offic-ially open the seventh annual Utah Shakespearean Festival Monday, July 15 at College of Southern Utah, it was announced an-nounced by Dr. Royden C. Braithwaite,, CSU president and chairman of the Utah Shakespearean Festival Board of Directors.- Governor and Mrs. Rampton also attended the opening of the 1966 and 1967 seasons. 'Hp i M 1 and Wednesday nights are "As You Like It" and "Romeo nd Juliet" directed by Sabin Epstein and Fred C. Adams -"snectively. Mr. Epstein has performed for three previous -easons with the Festival and '"turns this year as a guest liractor. Mr. Adams is founder found-er and producing director for 'he Festival. The plays will he repeated in nightly rota-Mon rota-Mon through Aug. 3 with the "vception of Sundays. Per-"ivmances Per-"ivmances begin at 7:30 p.m. following an hour of pre-play activities including music by the Elizabethan orchestra and madrigal singers and dancing hv the Festival dance troupe.
