Show Legislative Comm. Of BPW Presents Program President Clara Knell welcomed wel-comed members and guests to the regular dinner meeting of the Cedar City Business and Professional Women's Club held Wednesday evening at Sullivan's Cafe. The tables were beautiful with a patriotic patrio-tic theme consisting of red tapers and a large bouquet of white chrysanthemums and red carnations with a blue bow, on the head table. Streamers of the club colors of green and gold and small American flags, gave color and meaning to the other tables. Mrs. Knell presented Simon Bronson who is attending College Col-lege of Southern Utah. Bronson Bron-son sang three numbers and played his own accompaniment accompani-ment on the guitar. Carol Bellows was elected unanimously to the position of recording secretary of the BPW club. The program was in charge of the Legislative Committee with Mrs. Katherine Reafsnid-der, Reafsnid-der, Chairman, and members Ethel Blackner, Ella Easton, Marva Helpler, Alex Alexander, Alexand-er, and Ruth Hunter. Mrs. Reafsnider introduced Mrs. Ray Juvelin, President of the League of Women's Voters, who discussed matters that concern women in Civic Participation. Parti-cipation. She felt that women have failed to become active, working influences in politics. They should shop for quality in delegates for politicial jobs. The strength and kind of local government is based on the character of its citizens. Mrs. Edna Sargent, Finance Finan-ce Chairman, announced that a fund raising card party will be held Feb. 8th at 7:30 p. m. at the Elks Lodge. Light re-freshmentts re-freshmentts will be served. All interested members of the community are welcome. |
