Show T-Birds Defeat Grand Canyon College 82 to 78 One of College of Southern Utah's finest basketball rivalry's, rival-ry's, Grand Canyon College of Phoenix, Ariz., provided another anoth-er excellent night of basketball basket-ball Monday at the CSU Memorial Mem-orial Fi"ldhouse. Coach Boyd Adams' T-Birds fought a come from behind battle to wind up on top at the final of thrj game by a score of 82 to 78. The T-Birds, however, how-ever, trailed throughout most of the contest, but never by a substancial margin. Grand Canyon was led by the excellent forward Duane Gagnon who hit for 17 points but it was Skip Mead of the T-Birds who stole the show with his fine ball handling and a tine performance that netted him 26 points and top scoring honors for the evening. Mead Connected on 60 percent per-cent of his shots from the field and had a perfect evening at the foul line with six of six attempts. He drove well in the contest and set up a number num-ber of cripples with his fine feeds. Gil Mullen, who has suffered suffer-ed somewhat of a slump came up with 14 big points in the contest and was particularly outstanding with his fine offensive of-fensive rebounding efforts. Dave Pinamonti came up with 15 points in the come from behind be-hind battle. It was Mead and Mullen, however, who sparked the T-Birds T-Birds in the final stanza to nip the visitors from Phoenix in the final minutes of play. Nearly half of Mead's points came in the final 10 minutes of action, and Mullen contributed contri-buted eight of his 14 points in the final quarter of play. Grand Canyon utilized the element of speed and quickness quick-ness to take the early lead, and the ability to be in the right place at the right time nearly won them a victory.
