Show Utah Shakespearean Testival Calls for ocal Participation Fred C. Adams, producing lirector of the Utah Shakes- earean Festival, has announced announ-ced that "Merchant of Venice," 'As You Like It" and Romeo and Juliet" will comprise the 1968 season of the seventh nnual Festival production to be staged at College of Southern South-ern Utah in July. "The three plays have proven prov-en time and time again to be some of the most popular of the Shakespearean repertoire," Mr. Adams said "Festival audiences have already enthusiastically enthu-siastically endorsed "Merchant "Mer-chant of Venice" and "As You Like It." The Festival newcomer, new-comer, "Romeo and Juliet," seldom fails to please where-ever where-ever and whenever it is performed." Mr. Adams said he felt that the three plays would attract at-tract the top Utah talent, as well as talent from colleges and universities throughout the nation, he is seeking his productions. He emphasized his desire to involve more local lo-cal participants in the Festival and praised the contributions made by residents of Cedar City and the state in the past. "Without the support of our own people, we would not be looking fonvard to our seventh year," he said, "and we need and solicit the continuation of that support to cany us forward for-ward into future seasons." Applications are being accepted ac-cepted by the Festival staff, with a cut-off date of March 18, Mr. Adams said.
