Show Saturday Services Honor Marion E. Lowder Funeral services were conducted con-ducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Marion E. Lowder, Low-der, 85, lifelong Parowan resident, resi-dent, who died at Valley View Medical Center Thursday from natural causes. The services were held in the Third Ward chapel with Bishop Verl Taylor conducting. Itha Mortensen was at the organ or-gan for prelude and postlude music. Speakers were Howard D. Knight and Howard Joseph and Jean Hendrickson gave a life history of Mr. Lowder. The prayer at the home was offered offer-ed by Boyd L. Mitchell, the invocation was by Larry Low-dar, Low-dar, a grandson; the benediction benedic-tion was by Glen Taylor, a brother-in-law, and the grave in the city cemetery was dedicated ded-icated by Howard Ward. Musical numbers included the song "In The Garden" by the song "End of a Perfect Day", by a ladies quartet, Janet Ja-net Jones, Jackie Robinson, Merna Mitchell and Katrine Johnson; an accordion solo, "The Lord's Prayer", by Michael Mich-ael Mutter, a grandson, and the song, "Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy", by a male quartet, Robert Rowley, Verl Taylor, Karl Mitchell and Bruce Decker. Accompanist was Mrs. Mortensen. Pallbearers were grandsons, Larry, Robert and Richard Lowder; John and James Mor-oney Mor-oney and Ronald Anderson. Granddaughters carried the floral offerings. Marion Edgar Lowder was born in Parowan Sept. 2, 1882, a son oi jonn ana unuy xxw-der xxw-der and resided here all of his life. He engaged in livestock raising and farming and had remained active in this work until the past few weeks. He tried raising goats at a homestead home-stead he took up at Kane Springs in the North hills. He married Evelyn Taylor Dec. 30, 1908 in Parowan and the marriage was later solemnized sol-emnized in the St. George LDS Temple where the couple did much work in their late years. Surviving are his widow and the following sons and daughters: daugh-ters: Marion, St. George; Lawrence, Law-rence, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Hilda Moroney, Mrs. Frank (Glenna) Mutter, and Mrs. Thomas (Maurine) Wade, Los Angeles; Mrs. Joe (LaPreal) Anderson, Cedar City, Mrs. Dean (Lynette) Robison, Provo, Pro-vo, and Mrs. Vern (Evadene) Perry, Parker City, Ariz. Also by 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. All children, chil-dren, grandchildren and many of the great-granchildren were here for the funeral services. |
