Show Yorke Nelson Named Chairman For Recreational Committee , The Cedar City Coordinating Coordinat-ing Council named a new chairman for its recreation committee at its Thursday night meeting, according to Ila Corry, chairman. Yorke Nelson was appointed to serve for a three year term as chairman. chair-man. He si succeeded by Steve Lunt. Mr. Nelson is weJl known in Cedar City for his contribution to young people's athletic programs. He was born in Cedar Ce-dar City and received his elementary ele-mentary education here except for his fifth grade which he spent in St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City. He graduated gradua-ted from Cedar High and CSU, then BAC, with an associate degree and later attended for another year. ' Mr. Nelson has been inter-, ested in athletics all of his YORKE NELSON life. He played Softball for 21 years and has managed boys" baseball teams for 32 consecutive consecu-tive years. He served as secretary secre-tary of the Columbia Iron Mines Recreation Association for 14 years. Mr. Nelson's contributions' to CSU athletic programs have been many and varied. He is a charter member of the Quar-' terback Club, having served as secretary, vice president and is president elect this year. He has served as a mom., ber of the Athletic Council. ' He is a member of the LDS. Church where he has held many positions of leadership in MIA, Priesthood quorums, and Sunday School. He is a Master M-Man. Last year Mr. Nelson received re-ceived an award from the Ce-, dar City Corporation in recognition recog-nition for his contribution to. the boys' baseball programs.. At the present time, he is serving ser-ving as district administrator of Little League Baseball of. Utah District No. 1. He has been a member of BPOE for many years and is serving his second term as a , trustee of the lodge. Mr. Nelson Nel-son is married to the former, Barbara Brown of Loa, Utah. They are the parents of two daughters. i t. |
