Show I Redmen Win Eleventh Year Cedar City High School Red-men Red-men walked off with their 11th consecutive Region Eight baseball title Friday afternoon after-noon when they defeated the Parowan Rams 9 to 0 to end league play. The Redmen went through the five game league season without a loss. Friday Wade Roberts picked pick-ed up the mound victory for the Redmen and he gave up . only one hit, and by virtue of I a pickoff at second base faced i only 221 batters in the seven innings of play. Roberts collected col-lected 14 strikeouts in the game. The Redmen did only slightly slight-ly better at the plate with four hits in the game, but took advantage of a host of Ram errors to score the onesided one-sided victory. In the first inning of play the Redmen picked up five runs without benefit of a hit getting men on base three times on walks, twice on errors er-rors and then scored basical- ly on infield throwing errors. A single by Wayne Esplin and two walks loaded the bases for the Redman in the fourth and Dale Hatch belted a single to score two runs and a passed ball accounted for a third in that inning. The only other run of the game was a towering homer by Esplin in the fifth inning. Only other hit of the game for the Red-men Red-men was a single by Bernell Thorley in the fifth. Steve Kincaid of the Rams doubled over the right field fence in the first inning for Parowan but was put out on a pickoff play in that frame. No other Ram reached first base. For the Redmen they will now move into the state playoffs play-offs and are scheduled to play in a semi-final contest against the Region Five winner on the week end of May 17 and 18.
