Show PHS Coach to Issue Football Suits Monday between juniors and seniors, but what will come up from last year's freshmen group is uncertain uncer-tain as yet. Who will replace the above men will probably be shown following fol-lowing next week's practice sessions, ses-sions, but there are a number of last year's men who were mainstays main-stays on both line and backfield who will be hard to displace from their positions this year. Lowell Caldwell, football mentor men-tor at Parowan High School informs in-forms us that he will issue suits to this year's football squad on Monday evening at the school gym, and that practice sessions will get under way immediately thereafter. Practice sessions will be held each evening under the lights from then on, with the opening game of the 19G6 season scheduled sched-uled for Friday, Sept. 9. This game will be played at 8 p. m. with the team from the Lincoln County High School at Panaca, Nevada as opponents. Coach Caldwell, who will be assisted by Charles Brinkerhoff with the football duties again this year, states that he is expecting ex-pecting between 45 and 50 boys to apply for suits on Monday. Asked what he thought of this year's prospects Caldwell stated that his squad this year will be light but will feature a lot of speed, with lack of depth to be the big drawback. Gone from the squad this year will be such men as all-state defensive quarterback Johnny Guffey, backs Rick Evans, Mike Adams and Allan Lister. Missing from the line will be Kenneth Watson, Jerald Davenport, Mah-lon Mah-lon Dalley, Ralph Robinson. The above boys were mainstays on the Parowan team which enjoyed its best year in 11-man football In the history of the school. There will be a number , of first string men back from last year's squad who will be counted on to carry the burden this year. They are about equally divided |
