Show Flood Control Project Progress Made, Congressmen Report Word was received in Cedar City yesterday from Utah's Con-gressional Con-gressional delegation in Washington, Wash-ington, D.C., that progress is be-in? be-in? made on a proposed flood control project in the Green's Lake area as a protective measure meas-ure for Cedar City. Acting Administrator Austin L. Patrick of Soil Conservation Ser-vice Ser-vice advised authorization has been granted to assist In preparation prep-aration work planning on Green's Lake watershed of '7575 acres, under authority of Water-shed Water-shed Protection and Flood Prevention Pre-vention Act. Technical assistance will be furnished local organizations by the Soil Conservation Service and Forest Service. Sponsoring organizations are Iron County Soil Conservation District, D. Claude Urie, Chair-man; Chair-man; Cedar City, Iron County Water Users, and Cedar City Water Board. The project is designed to prevent pre-vent recurrence of flood damage that occured last summer during flash floods on the side of the mountain In the area commonly known as the Green's Lake wat-ershed. |
