Show Pony League Play VipesOut No Loss Column TEAM STANDINGS Power Co 1 1 .667 Arden Dairy 2 1 .667 Parks 1 2 .333 Utah Const 1 2 .333 I "Reddy Kilowatt" of the Cedar City Pony League baseball was the last of the four teams to fall from the unbeaten ranks in a program that in all likelihood will be tight and uncertin till the end. Power was dumped by Utah Construction Tuesday eve-ning eve-ning 6 to 5. Up to that time the construction crew was wlnless. With each of the teams playing play-ing only three games the league has developed into an interesting interest-ing race with any of the four capable of winning the league title. In two games this week Power Company has won one and lost one. Thursday evening Power outhit and outscored the Utah Parks nine winning with a five run margin 7 to 2. Calvin Hair on the mound for the Power crew allowed only three hits and struck out 13 batters in registering regis-tering his first win in the Pony League play. Losing pitcher was Sam Chamberlain, Cham-berlain, also fresh from the ranks of the Little League. Power Pow-er collected five hits and capitalized capital-ized on 12 errors in scoring their seven runs. j Thursday evening Power suf-fered suf-fered its first defeat in the league at the hand of Utah Con-j structlon and Leigh Rosenberg, on the mound, allowed only one 'hit. that off the bat of Thomas I Evans. Larry Anderson pitched the first five Innings for Power and was relieved by Roger Hig-j bee in the sixth. Higbee was 'charged with the loss. Power tied it up in the seventh' inning at 4-aIl on a host of errors by U C but Construction bounced back in the bottom of the final frame to clinch the game. Arden Spree Friday evening Arden scored a 16 to 9 victory over Utah Construction. Con-struction. The score would Indicate Indi-cate a one-sided affair, which was not the case. At the end of sixth frame Arden led by a single point, 8 to 7. In the top of the seventh they broke lose for eight runs to move into a sub- stantial lead which UC could not overcome. Roger Halterman was the winning pitcher and Karl Bralthwaite was charged with the loss. Douglas Haycock of Arden Ar-den scored the first home run of the season in the seventh inning when he belted one over the left field fence. Monday evening Arden scored their second succesive win over Utah Parks, 8 to 4. Parks outhit Arden 7 to 4 and committeed I four errors compared to three for the Parks but still Parks lost Ithe game. They did, however. I leave nine men stranded on I bases compared to only four for Arden. Leigh Rosenberg, who relieved re-lieved Douglas Haycock in the third Inning was given the vie- I tory and Larry Smith was charged charg-ed with the loss for the Parks. At the end of five innings. Parks held a 4 to 2 lead, but Arden bounced back with three runs in each of the final two Innings In-nings to win 8 to 4. The two leaders at .this early date.
