Show PARAGONAH NEWS NOTES By Nora Lund Memorial Day was fittingly celebrated here May 30. It was a beautiful day, peaceful and still. Almost every grave was decorated dec-orated with a profusion of beautiful beau-tiful flowers and wreaths, show-lng show-lng love and respect for loved ones who have passed on. Hosts of former residents came back for the occasion and enjoyed a visit with relatives and friends of this commuinty as well as other places. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Robinson and family of Richfield came Wednesday to be with Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Robinson and the Er-rol Er-rol Lamoreaux families. Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Gale of Beaver and Mr. and Mrs. Don Farra of Panguitch visited dur-lng dur-lng the week with Mrs. Joseph E. Lister. Mrs. Hannah Robinson returned return-ed Sunday from Salt Lake City where she enjoyed visiting with the Norman Harrises, the Elwln Talbots and Mable Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Holyoak of Mllford spent Thursday here with Rachel's sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Strlngfellow and their children chil-dren of Salt Lake City were here for Memorial Day. and to visit with Rulon Barton: Eugene Robb arrived early last week from Salt Lake City to spend the summer with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Robb. Raymond Prothero is reported to be somewhat Improved In the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Duncan and LaVeda of Meadow spent a few days here and In Cedar City with relatives. Mrs. Jane Patterson, Mrs. Duncan'a mother, went back with them to spend a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Davenport Daven-port and Jerold traveled to Logan on Friday to be in attendance at the graduation of a niece. Miss Patricia Robb, from the U S A C there on Saturday morning. Miss Robb, a former resident of Para-gonah, Para-gonah, has signed a contract to teach home economics at the Paris, Idaho high school this coming school year. Miss Deanna Robb accompanied the Davenports Daven-ports to Salt Lake after a week's visit here with relatives. First Lt Ruth Dalton. an Army nurse. Is here to spend a two-weeks two-weeks vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Dalton. as well as other family members, relatives and friends. She has Just completed an advanced course In psychiatric nursing at the Fort Sam Houston school. Upon leaving Para gonah she will do psychiatric research at Vallen Forge, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Smith of Salt Lake, she the former Kath-erin Kath-erin Robb, were here Sunday. They came especially to have Ivan Robb. Mrs. Smith's brother, christen their Infant son. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Arden Richards and daughters of Summit; Mrs. Eda Thornton and Miss Lola Lund of Cedar City were here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cameron of Salt Lake City were here to soend Memorial Day with Mr. and Mrs. Don Barton. John C. Barton celebrated his 77th birthday June 2 at his home here. ' Audrey and Garth Robinson, children of Mrs. Mable Robinson, and Charles and Douglas Murie and Ellen Dalton, children of Mrs. Sara Murie, all of Salt Lake City are visiting relative and friends here for a while. William Dalton of Salt Lake City spent the past week here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dalton. Mrs. Lucille Maxwell Smolen-chl Smolen-chl and daughters arrived by plane from Panama Friday to spend a week with her mother. Mrs." Elizabeth Maxwell, and her brothers and sisters, who reside re-side in this locality. She Is a guest at the Wilson Lund home. Mr. and Mrs. Bcrnell Hunt and baby of Stockton. Utah, spent a I few days here with his mother, Mrs. Lasca Hunt, and sisters. Mrs. Jane Adams of Salt Lake, City, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Slack and ! daughter of Cedar City, spent Sunday here with relatives and friends. This Is Mrs. Adams' and Mrs. Slack's former home. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Stones and family of Salt Lake City were here Sunday visiting with his brother, Amasa Stones and family. Mrs. Isa Prothero, a sister, sis-ter, and her daughter, Mrs. Alta Adams of Parowan, also visited with the Stones. LaNell Topham left last week for Grand Canyon where he has employment for the summer. A number of the parents as well as the Boy Scouts enjoyed the barbecue Thursday evening at Vermilion Castle. The boys remained overnight to participate partici-pate in the Scout Encampment program. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Williamson and their daughters Jeanette and Glenna of Las Vegas came Sat-! urday for a short visit with his father, Edwin C. Williamson. Mr. and Mrs. Don Barton spent Sunday afternoon In Panguitch helping Edith's mother, Mrs. John Miller, celebrate her birthday. birth-day. . Helen Jean and Annette Dalton, Dal-ton, Phyllis and Tess Robb, Carolyn Caro-lyn Jones, Laura Lamoreaux, Sherry Dawn Evans, Shirlene Talbot and Vesta Rae Barton, Mia Maid girls, with their leaders, Miss Helen Stones and Nora Lund, participated in a baptismal baptis-mal service at the St. George Temple on Friday. They spent the remainder of the day in Zion National Park vhere they enjoy-ed enjoy-ed a picnic lunch, swimming and sightseeing. Mrs. Nina Robb also accompanied them. Saturday 17 of the AaroMc Priesthood members under the leadership ' of Bishop Victor R. Robinson, Clark Lamoreau, Kenneth Ken-neth Topham and Boyd Robinson, traveled to St George to do baptismal bap-tismal work at the L D S temple. They returned by way of Veyo warm springs, where swimming was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Lund. Mrs. Richard N. Lund, Mr. and Mrs. LaNay Lund of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Althea Brown and daughters of Cedar City, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Lund and four children chil-dren of Lehl, and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Lund of Milford. were among those who were here for Memorial Day. Mrs. Madallne Gardner and Mrs. Bert Gardner of Mt. Carmel; Mrs. Sarah D. Beard. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hollingshead and three daughters of Mllford; Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Dalley of California; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Dailey, Mrs. Reta Reid, Mrs. Albena Gurr, Mrs. Bentley, Mrs. Nellie Taylor and Mrs. Hattie Harris of Parowan Paro-wan were among those who came for the graveside services of Mrs. Ileen D. Dixon Friday. Leslie Barton is here from Mllford Mll-ford as a guest of Heber Lund. Mrs. Emma Dalton enrolled Monday In the summer session of school at the College of South-ern South-ern Utah In Cedar City. Mrs. Jim Stones and children are visiting in San Gabriel, Cal. with her parents. The building committee sponsored spon-sored a very successful food sale Wednesday. Its members wish to thank those who helped. Mr. and Mrs. Renford Talbot, Kent. Shirlene and Jerry, also Mrs. Annie Talbot, traveled to Beaver Friday evening to attend the wedding .reception held for a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Don (Gale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Le-Grand Le-Grand Gale. |
