Show PARAGONAH NEWS NOTES Mrs. Mil a Lam oreaux I A large and appreciative audience aud-ience enjoyed the drama, "San Juan Ou'post," presented in the! Paragonah school audi'orium on' Monday evening. The Pioneer play was a part of Parowan's birthday celebration last week and the cast very generously con-sented con-sented to bring it to Paragonah to help wih our building fund projec'. We are all very grateful for the entertainment and their help and wish to express our appreciation to all who helped in any way. D U P meeMng was held at the home of Mrs. Nora Bar'on on Thursday of last week. Highlikht of the meeting was a readin-j of the history of the late James B. Davenport. Mrs. Delia Marsdenj and Mrs. Dott Smi'h, both of! Parowan, descendants of Mr.i Davenport, joined the Paragonah ladies for the occasion. I Howard Ward, A. Hills Orton and Herman E. Bayles of Parowan Paro-wan were the visiting speakers! in Sacrament meeting on Sun-' day. Ward and Or'on are members mem-bers of the Parowan Stake High Council. Mrs. Amy Prothero returned home on Saturday after almost two weeks in the Iron County Hospital in Cedar Ciy. Mrs. Pio-thero Pio-thero is convalescing nicely from a s'omach operation. The play "Sister Susie Swings It." under the direction of Miss Helen Stones, Is scheduled for presentation some time next week. It is sponsored by the Special In'erest class in the M. I. A. It features an all women cast and will be given in interest inter-est of the ward building fund. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lamor-eaux Lamor-eaux and family of Provo werej week end guests in Paragonah where they visited with the Ches-1 ter Robinson and Earl Thornton families. On Saturday Mr. andl Mrs. Herbert Walker and boys,' Mrs. Eda Thornton and Miss Ray-ma Ray-ma Thornton were here from Ce-, dar Ci'y to visit with the Lam-oreaux Lam-oreaux family and enjoy dinner at the Thorn'on home. I The Jim Bettridge family re-j reived a nice surprise on Tues-1 day when their son Monte pre-! sented his new bride to them.1 The young lady was Miss Jean- eTe Gates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delos Gates of Beaver. Tne young couple were married eaily Tuesday morning in Pioche, Nev. For several years Monte has been working with his uncle Darwin Dailey and they had Just completed com-pleted a project at Milfordd. Mrs. Iras Jones was happy to have a short visi with her niece the former Joan Bell on Saturdayi last. The young lady and her new husband, James Park, both of Bountiful were enroute to Las Vegas and stopped here to visit. Jim Nixon, David Taylor and a bro'her, all of Spanish Fork, were in Paragonah Sunday on business busi-ness and to see the Bud Robinson Robin-son family. Mr. Taylor was an associate of Bud during his stay in Spanish Fork. Lynn Barton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Barton, left for San Francisco on Sunday. He has re-enlisted re-enlisted in the Navy for six years and was reporting for reassignment. re-assignment. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Martin of Pasadena, Calif., were in town from Thursday to Monday. They were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lowe Bart an. According to reports from Provo, Pro-vo, Willard Lund is making satisfactory sat-isfactory progress. Although his operation was difficult and a long convalescent period will be required, he Is quite optimistic. Last week end was brightened for him by visits from his children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lawrence, Law-rence, and family and Mr. and Mrs. Royce Knight, who flew to Provo to visit him in the hospital. hospi-tal. Leo Duston has gone to Pro vo for a visit with his daughter Mrs. Alene Smith and her family. fam-ily. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones are combining business and pleasure on a trip to California this week. Glenn Williamson of Las Vegas Ve-gas was in town on business last week. His wife, Ardice, accompanied ac-companied him as far as Summit Sum-mit for a visit with her mother, Mrs. Hulda Peterson. Craig, Miles and Elaine Robinson Rob-inson are visiting in Paragonah with relatives. Ther paren's, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robinson of Parowan, have gone to Salt Lake City to take another son, Wayne, to a specialist. Mr. and Mrs. DeWltt Jones had week end guests. The visitors visit-ors were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Benning of St. George. j Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Prothero were in Cedar City Saturday and! Sunday. Saturday evening they attended the wedding of Alcno's brother. Kenneth Bonzo, who (claimed Suzanne Kirtley as his bride. Alene was matron of honor hon-or at the ceremeony, Rulon Barton is happy to have his son Darrell. home with him for a time. Rulon flew .o California Cali-fornia to spend the holidays with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Stefko, and their three children of Millbrae and to meet Darrell. who was released from the Marine Corps on Dec. 26. Afer a two week stay there the men traveled 10 Salt Lake City where young Barton Bar-ton visited friends for a week before coming on to Paragonah. Darrell entered the Marines on Sept. 20, 1951 and has spent the time since in California. He received his basic training at San Diego, spent some time at Barstow and Moffi't Air Field but was stationed at Pendleton Marine base the majority of the time. Among his accomplishments accomplish-ments were the following: qualified quali-fied expert rifleman, electronics technician, truck driver in the Vh Motor Battalion, and M. P. He plans to go t0 Salt Lake City to study at the Universiy of Utah where he will major in art. Mrs. Bertha Topham and son1 Lancll were happy to have the Doyle Topham family of Delta here with them for the week! end. Bernell Hunt and children Jeffery and Lorl Kaye of Stock-! ton, arrived In town on Saturday for a visit with Bernell's mother.! Mrs. Lasca Hunt. Mr. Hunt has returned home bur the children I will remain in Paragonah for a' few weeks. I Mrs. Lila Stones was guest of honor at a party last Wednesday evening. Mrs. Norma Topham and Miss Helen Stones were co-hostesses co-hostesses for the affair held at the Topham home. Lila's class of Mu'ual girls assisted with the arrangement. Out . of town guests included Mrs. Metta Mor-tensen. Mor-tensen. Mrs. Clare DnUon and Mrs. Eleanor Hyatt of Parowan. Mrs. Iras Jones enter'ained the ladies of her sewing club at ner home on Thursday evening of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lamoreaux entertained a group of friends at their home on Saturday evening, eve-ning, the occasion being Mr. Lamoreaux's birthday which came on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson Robin-son were happy to have some of Irene's family visit with them last week. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Lamoreaux, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Lamoreaux and family of St. George. Orval's son Paul was returning re-turning home from a mission for the L D S Church and his folks met him in Beaver, came to Paragonah and visited overnight before going on home. Paul's mission was in Illinois in the Northern States Mission and he served as a district supervisor sup-ervisor there. Mrs. Ruby Bauer of Cedar City-is City-is visiting in Paragonah with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Robinson, Mrs. May Lister. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lister and Mr. and Mrs. John Lister were among the close relatives who traveled to Cedar City last week to attend the Ber-tha Ber-tha Jolley funeral. Many o'her relatives and friends were present pres-ent also. |
