Show LIVING IN THE ESCALANTE VALLEY LIONS The Escalante Valley Lions held their regular bimonthly meeting Wednesday evening, July Ju-ly 12 in the community building. build-ing. The meeting was conducted by president Warren Piatt. Guests for the evening was Don J. Applegate, district governor, who is residing in Parowan and his small son. Governor Apple-gate Apple-gate gave a report along with slides of his recent trip to Atlantic At-lantic City for the Lions convention. con-vention. THE GREEN THUMBS Three members of the Green Thumb 4-H club attended 411 club at Duck Creek last week. They were Eddie Gardner, David Wood, and Kent Holt, accompanied accom-panied by their leader, Wayne Holt. by Kent Holt I THE PIXIE STITCHERS by Joelyn Holt The Pixie Stitchers 1 11 club of Escalante Valley had a very enjoyable two day camping trip at Duck Creek last week. Seven girls, Susan Wood, Max-ine Max-ine Auld, Maurine Burgess, Sandra San-dra Bracken, Gaylene Hunt, Carolyn Car-olyn Jones and Joelyn Holt, were accompanied by Carol Hunt. Jr. Leader; Marilyn Holt, Asst. Lea-er Lea-er and Elaine Jones, Carolyn's mother. Our club look second plate for camp identification. We had a doll dressed as a little pixie sitting under a stool sewing. We also received honorable mention for our skit named "Mule Skinners Skin-ners Blues." The Flag Rainsing ceremony was conducted by our 411 club members. We had loads of fun ! participating in all of the camp activities including a hike to Mirror Lake, a Treasure Hunt and handicrafts in which we made ourselves each a real neat wallet. The last of June our club participated in Red Cross swimming swim-ming lessons at Veyo swimming; Pool. We took 30 minute lessons every clay for a week and all of us feel pretty safe In the water . now. HERE AND THERE Friday, July 14th, Mrs. Wayni Holt attended the wedding in the? St. George Temple for her sister, Gelennda Snow and Dale A. Es-tes. Es-tes. The wedding party returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Holt for the wedding breakfast. , Saturday the Holt family. 1 Wayne, Marilyn, Joelyn, Kent. Kevin and Kim. went to Delta for the reception that evening. Also attending from this area ! were Mr. and Mrs. Heber Holt. I and Mr. and Mrs. iliduid Jones and daughter, Carolyn. Jack Goddard has spent several se-veral weeks with his parents and sister, the Dewey Goddard family from California. Joe Ramero who has been called call-ed to work with the new Laman-lte Laman-lte branch as M. I. A. superintendent, superinten-dent, attended the M. I A. camj out at Navajo Lake the last of the week. |
