Show Oiling Projects Due on Mountain Roads L.A. Young Construction Co. of Richfield is the apparent low bidder on E.7 miles of road to be constructor this summer around Navajo Lake, it was announced this week by Howard Foulgcr, supervisor of the Dixie National Forest. Bids on the road oiling project were opened Friday, July 14 at the Regional Ofes of the Forest For-est Service in C'gden. T'le L.A. Youn bid was In the amount of $89,2 10, approximately SIO.WXJ below the engineer's estimate es-timate on the project, Foulgcr stated. Approval of the bid Is expected expec-ted this week, Foulger stated, and the Construction Co. indicated indic-ated that work would begin almost al-most immediately. Under the agreements of the contract the oiling project is to be completed in 120 calendar days. In addition to the road construction con-struction at Navajo Lake the project pro-ject also calls for 1690 square yards of road oiling at the entrance en-trance to the Duck Creek Campgrounds Camp-grounds as well as oiling at the Duck Creek Ranger Station. The Navajo Lake road will follow fol-low the present course from the junction of Utab Highway 14 and will continue on past the lake to a point beyond the Navajo Lake diainagc to the enterance to the North Fork drainage of the Virgin Vir-gin River. Fouiger indictated mat during the period of construction it will be necessary at times to close the road to traffic. However, accessibility ac-cessibility to the lake w'll be made available each Saturday and Sunday. Initial construction phase will be graveling of the road and it was stated that during part of the work the road would remain open at all times. It would be necessary, however, during the oiling phase, to close the road for short periods during the week. |
