Show Boat Race Agenda to Draw Entries From Wide Area, Jaycees Proclaim The Second Annual Boat Regatta Re-gatta at Navajo Lake will be staged on Monday, July 21 as a part of the outstanding Pioneer Day celebration in this area. Sponsorship of the Regatta is by the Cedar Cil Junior Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce and the the Cedar City Boat Club. First races are expected to begin be-gin shortly after 12 noon and will continue through 1 1 heats two for each division of the National Power Boat Association Sane tioned events. One of the highlights of the races will be the two heats of the "Crackerbox" division. These boats, which feature regular automobile inboard engines, reach extremely high speeds and are annually among the most colorful. Special events wili also be staged between each race including includ-ing water sking exhibitions and races which will feature local boaters and members of the Cedar City Club. Assisting with the arrangements arrange-ments will be the Salt J.ake City Boating Club who will survey the lake, mark off the racing area and also official time events for the NPBA to qualify them for national events later this year. EntBants for the races are ex. pected ficra at least three states and possibly more. Entrants from Idaho Falls, Idaho have indicated their Intentions of par- ticipating. It is also anticipated that entries from California will participate along with top name boaters from Utah from Bountiful, Bounti-ful, Salt Lake City. Orem, Provo and from Cedar City. Concessions will also be sold at the lake by the Jayeee Ettes and the Jaycees are also planning plan-ning to have supervised parking to make the area accessible to everyone. The first annual Boat Regatta staged last year was a hugh success and this year's event, in addition to drawing top field of entries, is also expected to draw a large audience from throughout through-out southern Utah. The Regatta has been designated designa-ted as a major function of the Pioneer Day celebration for this area and no other conflicting events have been sccdulcd.
