Show j William Cooke Mitchell II Family Assembles Approximately 123 descendants descend-ants of William Cooke Mitchell II enjoyed a family reunion In Parowan Par-owan last week end. T. Randall Adams was chairman of arrangements arrange-ments for the day long celebration celebra-tion with Ramona M. Stubbs as program chairman and Itha M. Mortensen, secretary-treasurer. The group met at the Five Mile recreation camp early Saturday morning where the local members mem-bers were hosts at a camp-fire breakfast. Wielding the frying pans and pancake turners were Mr. and Mrs. Randall Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Elved Williams. After spending the remainder of the day In the mountains and in visiting familiar haunts, the family assembled at the Third Ward recreation hall where they enjoyed a banquet prepared by that ward's Relief Society ladies. Mr. and Mrs. Rex C. Mitchell of Salt Lake City provided organ and piano music as a prelude to a short business meeting in the chapel. Genealogical reports were given by chairmen William C. Smith and Hal S. Mitchell. Those assembled voted to hold a reunion reun-ion next year and Dr. Albert O. Mitchell of Provo was named as chairman for the occasion. Re-assembling In the recreation recrea-tion hall, the group enjoyed a program emceed by Moroni W. Smith of Provo. Karen, Marsha and Mary Jane Mitchell gave a tumbling act; De Anne Whitney played a piano solo, a vocal trio composed of Annette, Kath-ryn Kath-ryn and Mitchell Seaman sang and readings were given by Karl and Albert Mitchell. The prayer before the dinner was offered by Clair Hulet and Sylvia Jones pronounced the benediction. I Out-of-town members In attendance at-tendance were Mr. and Mrs. Mo roni Smith, Provo; William Smith and Granddaughter, Pleasant Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Smith and daughter Barbara of Susan-ville, Susan-ville, Calif; Mr. ano Mrs. Keith Smith and family, Murray. Also at the reunion were Mrs-Sylvia Mrs-Sylvia Jones. Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. Grant Seaman and family. Beaver; Mr. and Mrs. Parley R. Neeley and granddaughter, Spanish Spa-nish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gardner, Logan; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Whitney and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elved Williams and children. Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Gardner; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mer-ryweather Mer-ryweather and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Don-ald Haycock and children, all of Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lindsley,. their sons Richard and James R. Jr. and the latter's wife and family; fam-ily; Mr. and Mrs. Rex C. Mitchell Mrs. Beatrice Dalton Harris and her son Boyd; Miss Kathleen Mitchell, Mrs. Belle Taggart and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Mitchell and daughter were In attendance from Salt Lake City. From Ogden came Mr. and Mrs. Claude Mitchell Mitch-ell and sons Larry and Steve. J. Clayton Mitchell of Salt Lake City, the only surviving member of the original William Cooke Mitchell II family, was unable to i be in atter.da;ice at the 1961 reunion. |
