Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING I by Virginia Webster Lady pinochle club members . met Friday evening at the home of Pharol Adams. Joining with the group was a guest, LeOnia Miller. Following the card sessions, ses-sions, the hostess presented gifts to Wanda Dockstader, Sharon Bulloch, LeOnia Miller and Wana Hoyle. Miss Dianne Beatty of Salt Lake City was a week end guest here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudgar Beatty. M. B. W. Members of the M. B. W. club enjoyed a trip to Hurricane where they were entertained by former MBW club member, Lenia Parry. The group was served a delicious deli-cious luncheon by Mrs. Parry and spent the rest of the afternoon n'lJting. Members of the Nurse's Staff at the Valley View Medical Center Cen-ter traveled to Leeds last week where they enjoyed dinner at the Home Spun. The party, planned for Miss Ellen Anderson and Miss Echo Mae Anderson, was attended attend-ed by Hilda Fowers, Ila Magle-by, Magle-by, Jean Myers, Betty Jenson, Mary Smith, Delia Garfield, Ber-niece Ber-niece Bulloch and Lola Lamor-eaux. Lamor-eaux. i Jimmy Jones Is now making his home In Cedar City. He plans to be here until sometime next winter. He is currently working on paintings and preparing for another private art show. A traditional May Day breakfast break-fast was held for birthday club members at the home of Mrs. M. A. Cowley Saturday morning at 8:00 a. m. Enjoying the festivities were Mrs. M. A. Cowley Mrs. Stanley Bradshaw, E. W. Southwick, Mrs. Flrrence cardon, Mrs. Don Draper, Mrs. Morgan Rollo, Mrs. Iva Jones, Mrs. Reed Bradshaw and Mrs. Hunter Nelson. Nel-son. Two different pinochle clubs met last week in Cedar City. Mrs. Richard Higbee was hostess at one of the club meetings, while Mrs. Louie Tong was hostess at the other. A special guest invited by Mrs. Higbee was Mrs. Bob Clark Mrs. Jake Williams and four children were in Cedar City last week end visiting with members of the Loyal Corry family. They returned to their home In Boulder, Bould-er, Nevada, following the brief visit. Week end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elsworth Flanl-gan Flanl-gan have been two of Flanigan's nephews, Clyde F. Gillette and Robert Werner of Salt Lake City. Mr. Gillette was accompanied by his daughter Julee. Dr. and Mrs. Scott Gardner were recent guests of Dr. Gardner's Gard-ner's mother, Mrs. Ann Gardner, and his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Gardner were returning re-turning to Portland, Oregon after af-ter attending a convention in San Francisco. Before their departure for Lander, Lan-der, Wyoming, where they will make their home, Mr. and Mrs.' John Quinn were honored at a dinner party given by Mr. and Mrs. Don Ence at the Ence home. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Gall Fife, Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Jol-ley, Jol-ley, Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Magleby, Lee Frazler, Mrs. Bonnie Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lunt, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Imlay, Mrs. Af-ton Af-ton Hartman, Gene Justet and Miss LaJuana Empey. Portland, Oregon was the vacation va-cation destination for Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Dockstader, who recently re-cently spent a week away from home. The Dockstaders met with Mrs. Dockstader's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Max Randall of Idaho Falls. The two couples enjoyed visiting with former friends In Oregon. En-route En-route home they visited with Mrs. Dockstader's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hel-lig Hel-lig in Great Falls, Montana. Mr. and Mrs. John Mathews and family enjoyed a two day trip to Fillmore last week end where they visited with Mrs. Ma-thew's Ma-thew's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Rogers. A farewell party was held Friday Fri-day evening for Mr. and Mrs. John Quinn, who left Monday to make their home in Lander, Wy. oming for Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lawr-ence Ashdown, who will soon be making a new home in Las Vegas. Veg-as. The couples were honored at a dinner party held at Sullivans and attended by staff members of the Engineering department at United States Steel. Those present pres-ent for the occasion with honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. Al Jensen, Jen-sen, Mr. and Mrs. Garth Webster, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Milne, Roy P. Urie, Mr. and Mrs. Norm Heaton, Mr. and Mrs. George Corry, Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lunt, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lott, and Mr. and Mrs. Lex Wilkinson. Mr and Mrs. Alex Spevak and family have enjoyed the company com-pany of Mr. Spevak's mother, Theresa Spevak of Ohio and a sister, Betty Plckel of New York. The two ladies spent ten days here visiting and sight-seeing, the purpose of their trip was to be here for the celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Spevak's 25th wedding anniversary Monday, May 3rd. in Commoratlon of the occasion, the family, including Mr. and Mrs. Gene Smith, Mr. and Mrs. John Spevak and Mrs. Lucile Snok, enjoyed dinner at Milt's Stage Stop with the honored hon-ored guests. Mrs. Snow, mother of Mrs. Alex Spevak, has also been a guest in Cedar City this past week. Mrs. Ben Baldwin entertained last Thursday night for pinochle club members. As a special guest, Mrs. LaVell Chamberlain joined the group for the card sessions. ses-sions. High score was won by Mrs. Hal Norton. Mrs. LaMar Graff won the traveling prize and also presented the hostess gift to Mrs. Baldwin. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Hirschl and children are visiting In Cedar City with Mr. and Mrs. Glenwood Hirschl and Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Leigh. Mrs. Gwen Sherratt was in attendance at-tendance at week end meeting in Salt Lake City of the Daughters Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers. Wives of the members of tho Southern Utah Bar Association u.am i.Titnj .j Saturday Satur-day afternoon luncheon in Cedar City May 1st. Hostess to the 11 ladies was Mrs. Pat Fenton. Attending At-tending were Mrs. C Nelson r?.y, Mrs. Norman Jackson, Mrs. Howard How-ard Peterson, Fillmore; Mrs. Bruce Parker, Mrs. Jack Parker, Panguitch; Mrs. Sam Cllne, Mrs. Joe Jackson, Milford; Mrs. R. L. Gardner, Mrs. Durham Morris, Mrs. Sterling Bossard of Cedar City, and Mrs. Ray Christiansen of Tooele, Utah. Miss Trudy Dobson arrived home from Provo last Saturday. She spent the week end visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Dobson. |
