Show Presbyterian Women Open Annual Spring Clothing Drive The Annual Spring Clothing Drive of the United Presbyterian Women's Association of the Com-munity Com-munity Presbyterian Church begins be-gins this week. Clothing collected collect-ed at this time will be sent overseas over-seas through the Church World Service Agency. This is a non-denominational non-denominational church service organization whose sole purpose is to help needy people throughout through-out the world in the name of Christ. Please bring clean and mended articles of clothing to the church at 64 East 200 North anytime during the day or evening. eve-ning. It will be open at all times and just set your clothing inside the door. Please weigh your clothes or guess at their weight, and include in-clude ten cents per pound for all of the clothing you contribute. This pays for the cost of processing pro-cessing the clothing at the Church World Service Clothing Center and transporting it from the center to a port for overseas shipment. These costs are held to a minimum by the work of volunteers who do most of the sorting and processing at the centers. Last spring 950 pounds of clothing was sent in from the Community Church, but very few left the ten cents per pound with their clothes and the United Pres. byterian Women's Association had to pay most of the $95 cost from the limited funds of their treasury. Either leave the money in an envelope Just Inside your box or sack of used clothing, or hand it to Rev. Gowen or his wife, Marie, at the white manse just west of the church. If you prefer, you can have your clothing and poundage mo-ney mo-ney picked up at your home by calling either Mrs. Sumner at 586-6100 or Mrs. Marie Bunnell at 586-8696. These ladles will take your name and address and arrange to have your clothes picked up at the time most convenient con-venient for you. Please remember that although your old out-dated clothes may be nothing but a bother and a storage problem for you, they can bring comfort, warmth and happiness to millions of people overseas who desperately need serviceable clothing for themselves them-selves and their children. Please take the time now, to sort your clothing and contribute what you know you'lln ever use again to this worthy cause. |
