Show Report From Scoui3 On Saturday and Sunday members of Boy Scout Troop 345 went on a hike up near the old Hurtz cabin at Squaw Bush Springs in Nigger Liz Wash northwest of Beryl. Under the direction of Scoutmaster Joe DelVecchio Del-Vecchio the boys camped out overnight and cooked supper and breakfast. Then they hiked in the area and found some Indian arrowheads. In contrast to the general prevalence of abundant water in the area, the boys reported re-ported that Squaw Bush Springs was dry. This hike enabled part of the boys to meet their First Class hike and camp-out requirement, re-quirement, and others to pass their Second Class requirement. Wednesday, Mav 27, the Scouts and Cub Scout Pack 3315, and the local Campfire Girls enjoyed enjoy-ed a cook-out under the direction of District Scout Commissioner Joseph Barney of Cedar City. The boys and girls were required to build their own fires with flint and steel., and there were taught how to cook steak and hamburger, hambur-ger, eggs and biscuits in aluminum alum-inum foil. The cook-out was held at the Sand Dunes campground and was enjoyed by all. |
