Show Earth Slide Raises Havoc on Dry Lakes Road I An earth slide in Parowan Can-, yon which occurred some time recently, has taken out several hundred feet of the Dry Lakes ' road Just above where It leaves the Main Canyon highway, with the slide coming down into the creek bed and shoving the Main Canyon creek over under the new highway which was built last year. A two or three acre area of wet meadow land has slid to the north as much as 10 or 12 feet and has dropped the dry lakes road and bridge which crosses the stream coming from that lit-1 tie meadow, down six or eight feet Large cracks run along the, road for several hundred feef' and circle the entire swam ha-sin, ha-sin, and it is felt that the earth movement is continuing slowly in the direction of the creek. That portion of the slide which has reached into the creek turning turn-ing the water Into the ned road, will have to be moved to save the road and get the water back away from the road. As far as the Dry Lakes road in this vicinity vi-cinity goes, it appears that a new routes will have to be located locat-ed to go around the slide area. |
