Show PARAGONAH NEWS NOTES B Rilma Lamoreaux Paul and Jean Strlngfellow and children of Salt Lake City and also Darrell Barton, were among the visitors to town last wwt Mrs. Jane Patterson is here from Cedar City visiting her son Wilson Wil-son Lund and other relatives. The long Memorial D.y week end was a good time ior trips and visits and dozens of out-of-town people came to Paragonah for the occasion. Mrs. Gertrude Barton came from California after almost ' a year there and visited here with her son Ted and family, as well as with other relatives before returning re-turning to her home in Cedar City. Mrs. Maggie Edwards and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Edwards Ed-wards were here from Delta for the week end. Lowell Edwards and members of his family were here earlier in the week. Mr. and Mrs. Ruby McBrlde came from Richfield for a visit with Irene's parents, Mr. ami j Mrs. John Williamson. Mrs. Vil- liamson is not very well and, early this week she had a heart attack and was cared for over-flight over-flight at the home of her grandson. grand-son. Bill Topham, in Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fuhrlm.in, and family of Salt Lake City came for Memorial Day and visited vis-ited with relatives here and with Belle's sister, Mrs. Francis Slack of Cedar City, before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Edwards, and Mrs. Marie Ilemstreet came' from Salt Lake City to spend the Memorial Day holiday with their mother, Mrs. Emma Fd-wards, Fd-wards, and their sister Gladys. Mrs. Mabel Robinson and her father, Milton Robb, were week end visitors here from Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones entertained en-tertained a host of relatives for the holiday week-end. Mrs. Max-ine Max-ine Keiffer and Mrs. LaPriel Lin-ford Lin-ford and their children, and Joe and Adele Burleson and baby came from Henderson, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Englestead came from St. George and the Melvyn Jones family was down from Salt Lake City. Mrs. Dorotha Barton was over from Orderville for Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Adair and daughter Alice Ann of Moab, are in town visiting relatives. On Sunday evening the families of Bill and Homer Boardman and James H. Anderson honored the Adalrs at a picnic party at the Five Mile. They were Joined by Mrs. Ramola Fretwell and her daughter, Betty Ann of Cedar City. M. nd Mrs. Arnold Mellor of Orem were in town from Thursday to Sunday visiting with Anna's folks, the Orson Talbots. They also attended the Thornton-Clark wedding and reception. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Lund of Salt Lake City visited briefly with friends In Paragonah last week. They had come to southern south-ern Utah to attend a family reunion. re-union. Members of Mrs. Amy Froth-ero's Froth-ero's family were all here last week to visit their ailing mother moth-er and to spend the holiday In Paragonah. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Prothero, and Mrs. Mary Massey all come from Ca'ifornla. Grandson, David Dav-id Scott and his wife, came from Sacramento. Mrs. Rosella Barton and daughter daugh-ter Vesta Rae, traveled to Salt Lake City last week to attend the Vocational School graduation exercises. Mrs. Kathleen Orton and Alan Dailey were among the graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Orton and their baby were here for the week end and Vesta Rae returned return-ed with them to Salt Lake City to look for employment. Mrs. Bertha Topham has boon in a whirl of visitors of late. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Stevens have been here from Mt. Pleasant for an overnight stay. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Smith of Thoenlx, Ariz., have been in town for a visit. Friends from California were Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Ryver. For Memorial Day Marie and Ray Berry and the four little Berries came from Salt Lake City. George and Violet Squires came from Mt. Pleasant. They were Joined by Lois- Bryant and family of Cedar City. Mrs. Topham expected her son Ivan and family to arrive here from St. George but Instead they l kept an appointment with the stork in the Iron County Hospital Hospi-tal and welcomed little Betty Lou to the family circle. i Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dalton were happy to have members of their family with them for the week end. Captain Ruth Dalton was here from California from Friday Fri-day to Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Dalton of Salt Lake City visited here from Friday to Sunday. Sun-day. Other guests at the Dalton home were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mich-ael Mark and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Chapman who were here Saturday. Ralph Williams and his sister Dorothy were here from San Carlos, Car-los, Calif, for an overnight stay with their cousins, the Daltons. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Smith and family of Clearfield and Mr. and Mrs. Kay Hansen and children of Salt Lake City visited here from Thursday to Sunday with members mem-bers of the W. T. Davenport family- The Boyd Robinson family arrived ar-rived on Friday from Kanab and stayed with Boyd's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Robinson until un-til Sunday. They visited with the Davenport family also. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Stones and members of their family w le here from Salt Lake City for the holiday. They visited with the D. Amasa Stones. Milo Stones was also here, coming from Ogden for the holiday. Mrs Thelma Clow of Henderson, Hender-son, Nev., was among the visitors visit-ors to town on Friday. I Mrs. Adelaide Lund was In town Friday. She had Just returned re-turned to Utah after a winter in California and met her son Lamarr and his family of Lchi, who had come for Memorial Day. They returned north together as Mrs. Lund is going on to Salt Lake City. Lawrence Daily arrived home on Sunday to get his wife Ear-bara Ear-bara and son Roger. They all left for Wyoming on Tuesday to spend the summer. Mr. and Mrs. June Smith and children of Layton paid a visit to Alene's grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Dunton for Memorial Day. Mrs. Alene Prothero returned home last week after a stay in the Iron County Hospital where she underwent surgery for some bad veins. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dimlck and family of Orem visited with friends in Paragonah on Sunday. Mr. Dimick will be remembered as a former teacher in the Fara-gonah Fara-gonah school. Mrs. Hannah Robinson left for Salt Lake City by bus Tuesday. She planned to visit members of her family there and to attend the West High School graduation gradua-tion exercises. Her granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, Jayne Robinson, formerly of Paragonah, is a member of the graduating class. Heber Lund has obtained on campus employment at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah and is now working there. Mr. and Mrs. Don Barton spent Memorial day in Panguitch. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Robb were down from Salt Lake Citv to spend the holiday Weel: end vis iting relatives here. Mrs. Rosella Barton has been named Y W M I A second counselor coun-selor to succeed Mrs. Hettie Ann Bentley. Mrs. Roene Lund Is the new Primary Association president, named to replace Mrs. Dorotha Barton, who recently moved to Orderville. The infant son of Ralph and Cleo Edwards was christened on Sunday. He was given the name of Michael Taul. Primary graduation exercises were held in Sacrament meeting on Sunday. LaRae Lamoreaux and Claudia Jones were the girls who graduated. Jim Talbot and Warren Smith were among the graduates from C S U last week. Jim has completed com-pleted two years of engineering study and Warren has finished his pre-dental course. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot, Neil and Judy traveled to Cedar City for the graduation exercises as did Mrs. Iras Jones, son Tom and Mrs. Eva Bell, who came from Panguitch for the occasion. The Ward Building Committee reports very poor cooperation from the townspeople in regard to the dinner served on Memorial Memor-ial Day. The profits from the venture ven-ture were far too small and had it not been for the visitors who were In town on that day the dinner would have been a failure. fail-ure. We regret that the hard work of the committee members was so little appreciated. Mrs. Rhina Cameron of Salt Like City visited here with her brother Don Barton last week. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Lamoreaux were in Cedar City last Wed nesday to attend the funeral service ser-vice for Dorothy's nephew, five-week-old Lee Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Perry. The Infant died in a plane enroute to a Salt Lake City hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot and daughter Ju f and Mr. and Mrs. Renford Talbot and aon Jerry, traveled to Beaver to spend Memorial Day with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Thornton of Salt Lake City came to town last week to attend the wedding of Gerry's sister Rayma. They were accompanied by nephews Erwln and Theron Lamoreaux of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Holyoak and baby visited in town last week with Dale's aunt, Mrs. Roene Lund. The young man Is on his way to Alaska for several months stay. Edwin Williamson left for Las Vegas on Tuesday for a visit with son Glenn and family and to attend the high school graduation gradu-ation rites where his granddaughter, grand-daughter, Jeanette Is graduating. |
