Show Last Rites Rendered For John C. Evans Fuieral services for John C. Evans 73, were held Monday afternoon af-ternoon at 2 In the Parowan Third Ward LDS chapel with Bishop Howard M. Adams conducting. con-ducting. Mr. Evans died Thursday Thurs-day afternoon at his home In Parowan after a long Illness. The services were conducted by Bishop Howard M. Adams, who also spoke briefly. Other speakers speak-ers were Barbara M. Adams and W. Clair Rowley. The prayer at the home preceding pre-ceding the services was given by Ancil J. Adams. The Invocation was by Howard Dalley, the benediction bene-diction was by Roy Moore and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by Evan Bayles. The musical program consisted of the opening song "Oh My Father," and closing song, "I Know that My Redeemer Lives," by a mixed group consisting of Ramona Stubbs, Ola Robinson, Veda Adams. Shirley Mercer, Harold and Karl Mitchell and W. Clair Rowley, with Itha Mitch-ell Mitch-ell at the piano, and a vocal solo, "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked," by Howard D. Knight, accompanied by Barbara Jane Bayles. The prelude aid postlude music mu-sic was by a gra lddaughter of the deceased, Conr.!? Terry of Enterprise. Pallbearers were Evan and Carmen Rollins, Melbi'rn Eyre, Arshal Evans, Ralph Watson and Ray Dell Evans. John Calvin Evans was born in Parowan May 29, 1884, a son of Thomas A. and Phebe Ann Pen J dleton Evans, and spent all of j his life here with the exception 'of a short period he spent in ' j Beaver County where he worked ; as a miner. He returned here to j j engage in farming operations an occupation he followed until ill health forced him to retire. 1 I He attended local schools and , later married Carrie Osborne at , Beaver Nov. 9, 1909. This mar-riag3 mar-riag3 was later solemnized in the St. George LDS temple. I Surviving are his widow, Paro-!wan; Paro-!wan; six sons and daughters, ! Dell J., North Creek. Beaver Co.; Shirl, A., Messena, N. Y.; Carl T., Summit; Lyle O.. Parowan; Mrs. jAthna H. (Vada) Terry, Enter- prise, and Mrs. Woodrow (La-Rue) (La-Rue) Watson, Parowan; 19 grand-! grand-! children and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Idonna Matheson and Mrs. Madora Rol-j Rol-j lins, Parowan, and Mrs. Ella Corbrldge, Lyman, Wyo. |
