Show I Wood Takes Over PE Dept. at Parowan High " ' I - ! I. ' ' . ' COACH JOHN WOOD John Rich Wood, new head of the men's physical education department and coach at the Par-owan Par-owan High School is a native of Murray, and graduated from the high school there in 1949, where he was all-state In basketball and lettered In four sports. Wood spent three years In the U. S. Air Force, serving In U. S. and Japan, and then came to College of Southern Utah In Cedar Ce-dar City, where he continued his career in athletics. He took part in four sports football, basketball, basket-ball, track and field and baseball, base-ball, placing on the all-conference football team and gaining All-Ameriean honorable mention for junior colleges, and made region team In basketball. Graduating from CSU lower di-vision di-vision In 1955, he entered B Y U that fall where he played foot-t foot-t ball two years. He received his E S. degree from the Y in 1957 with a major in physical education, and a minor in history. He did his practice teaching last February Feb-ruary at the Y in Wrestling, and at Payson High School later In physical education, health and history. In addition to coaching at the local school he is slated to teach driver training classes. He is married to Virginia Wood and they have two boys, Brady, 3. and Scott 1. They will live in the Farris Evans home this winter. |
