Show Organization Established to Promote Travel On Recently Constructed Y - Z Highway With the new cut-off highway through Nevada, providing a direct di-rect highway route between the San Francisco Bay area and the parks of southern Uh, scheduled schedul-ed for completion by the end of September, steps are now being taken to launch a promotional program that will result In utilization utili-zation of this new highway to benefit all areas served by lt . Across Nevada The new highway, the last link in what is known as the Yosemlte Zion National Park highway, crosses Nevada from the vicinity of Callente to connect con-nect with the principal highway in Nevada in the vicinity of Tonapah. It shortens the route by many miles between Yosemlte Yose-mlte in California and the national na-tional park vn of southern Utah. This, of course, provides a direct route from the heavily populated Bay area to southern Utah, to the national parks and the Glen and Boulder Canyon dams, and to connect with Highway High-way 91, and Highway 89, and to tap the heavy travel of Highway 66. I First steps ia this promotion program were taken at Callente Friday evening, when representatives representa-tives of the various cities along the route met to consider the various proposals. This resulted In the creation of a temporary organization with Warren Bulloch Bul-loch of Cedar City named president, presi-dent, William McGhle, Callente, vice president and Durrel Corry, Cedar City, secretary. First step will be to prepare a constitution and by-laws to be presented at the next meeting of the organization. Mr. Corry was named chairman of this committee, with authority to pick Its members. Oroonliatlon Members The organization will include chambers of commerce and other oth-er civic organizations from the communities along the highway from LaVinning, Calif, through Nevada and into Utah, including Tonapah, Panaca, Pioche, Callente, Call-ente, Enterprise, Cedar City, St George and Parowan. As soon as organizational details de-tails can be completed, the promotional pro-motional program will be launched, Mr. Bulloch states. |
