Show Thunderbirds Travel to Ephraim and Price ' For Weekend Games with Snow and Carbon Its on the road again this week for the College of Southern Utah Thunderblrds as they near the three-quarter mark in the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Collegiate Athletic Conference basketball season. Currently holding a record of only one win and five losses the Thunderblrds will move Friday evening to Price where they will meet the Carbon College Eagles In a contest to see which of the two clubs will move out of the cellar position. Saturday night they move to Ephraim to take on the high flying Badgers of Snow College, currently In third place In the conference championship race behind Dixie and Boise. On alternate nights the Dixie Rebels of St George will meet Snow and Carbon. The Rebels meet the Badgers Friday then on to Carbon Saturday. League standings going into this week's play are as follows: Dixie 5 1 .833 Boise 5 1 .833 Snow 4 2 .667 Ricks 3 5 .375 CSU 1 5 .167 Carbon 1 5 .167 Two games this week end followed fol-lowed by single games on the home court on the following two week ends will wrap up the conference con-ference for the CSU Thunderbirds They are currently out of the running In the conference, however, how-ever, only a small percentage of the conference is eligible for participation par-ticipation in the NJCAA playoffs this year. A ruling this year makes a team Ineligible If members mem-bers of the team are transfer students stu-dents f.-om other colleges and have not laid out for the equivalent equiva-lent of three quarters. Currently Boise and Carbon are Eligible. CSU is probably eligible, eligi-ble, along with Ricks. There Is an outside chance that Snow may become eligible. Dixie on the other hand cannot advance because of the regulation. CSU has one other road trip on Its remaining schedule. They will travel to Salt Lake City to meet the U of U freshmen in a non-conference tilt. |
