Show Dixie Clinches Title, Cedar Battles For Class B Berth DIVISION STANDINGS Dixie 7 0 1.000 Cedar 4 2 .667; Kanab 3 4 .429 Hurricane 2 4 .333 Enterprise 0 6 .000 Dixie Flyers of St. Oeorp.e' clinched the Dixie Division title and assured themselves of an. entry into the State Class. B High School tournament in Irovo Wednesday evening wi'h a 56 to 41 victory over their nearest competitor, com-petitor, Cedar High school. It was t he second defeat on the Red men record in league play, bo'h at the hands of the classy Dixie crew. With only a single game remaining re-maining on their schedule the Flyers clinched the Dixie Dii-sion Dii-sion title for the second successive succes-sive year. A series of four games have been played over the week with several close baMles in the lower low-er ranks of the division race. Friday evening Kanab moved into in-to third place in the league with a 55 to 46 win over the Hurricane Tigers in a game played at Ka-riab. Ka-riab. On the same evening the Flyers posted an easy C5 to 40 win over Enterprise. The Enterprise Wolves, winless in league play, bounced back Wednesday evening and almost tripped the Cowboys of Kanab In a batfle to the wire. Final! coore was Kanab 53, Enterprise! 52. Cedar City Redmen, with two remaining games, have assured themselves of at least a tie for second place they can do no worse so are in vital contention for entry into the state classic. Biggest game on their remaining remain-ing schedule is the clash Friday evening at Kanab between the Redmen and Cowboys. Final game of the league will be on Friday. Feb. 21 at Enterprise. A win in either of these games would give the Redmen undisputed undis-puted second place. Friday night's battle at Kanab ends league play for that team. |
