Show Southern Counties Learn Role from CD Head An annual district civil defense de-fense unit meeting, Including seven counties in Southern Utah, was held in Cedar City Tuesday, Feb. 11, with a number of representatives repre-sentatives of the state CD organization organ-ization in attendance. Chief spokesman at the meeting meet-ing of CD workers was Leonard A. Hlggens, sta'e civil defense director. Also attending were M. E. Cleveland, field representative for the state of U'ah; Harold Brown, Utah survival plan director, direc-tor, and Col. Glenn F. Marston, state air force coordinator for the Ground Observer Corps. Principal Item of discussion at the meeting was that of a statewide state-wide survival plan and organization organiza-tion on a s'ate basis for the care of evacuees who would flock to this area in the event of a national na-tional emergency. States such as Utah will find It necessary not only to handle emergencies arising within our own citizenry but that of the enormous number of evacuees that would be .expected to arrive from danger areas along the Pacific Pa-cific seaboard. Aiding the state program of civil defense is a $65,000 grant for a state survival plan which will help to carry out Immediate emergency p'.uis, Hlggens, stated. stat-ed.
