Show CSU Art Dept. Head Wins Recognition In State Arts Show I First place award in the 'Graphics Division, Utah Insitute of Fine Arts went to Professor I Max T). Weaver, College of Southern South-ern Utah. The 55th showing of the Utah Ins'itute of Fine Arts is being held In the State Capitol Building. Salt Lake City. Prof. Weaver's entry in the Graphics was enMtled "The Bird." First place recognition carried a stipend of $100. "Of Men" by Harrison T. Croutage, USU, won second prize and "Solitude" by Angelo Carravaglla, U of U, was third place winner. Other divisions Included painting, paint-ing, conservative; painting, mo-I mo-I dern, and sculpture. I The show attracted a large number of Utah artists and was the first Juried show for the pas'i year. Judges included: Dr. Vance Klrkland, Head of the Art Department. De-partment. Denver University; Dr. Jared DeJong, Dean of the School of Fine Arts, Brigham Young University; Prof. Twain Tippetts, Head of the College of Fine Arts. Utah State University; Prof. Roger Bailey, Head of the Department De-partment of Architecture, Univer. sity of Utah, and Ranch Kimball, Salt Lake City artist. j |
