Show Iron County Fair Scheduled for Early September The Iron County Fair Premium List is off the press and all committees com-mittees are rushing final preparations prep-arations for the annual event to be held at Parowan on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4, 5, and 6. Co-chairmen Thales Brown and Jess Guyman, state that a wide range of activities will be featured fea-tured in the three-day event. Homemaking activities, including includ-ing sewing, cooking, canning, baking and handwork, will play a prominent part in the fair, with exhibits broken down into a number of departments in order or-der to give proper recognition to excellence in each activity. Farm and gardening will also be featured, with divisions for field crops, vegetables, fruits and flowers. In the livestock division there will be departments for dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep and swine. Members of the 4-H clubs throughout the county will have an opportunity to compare their work and accomplishments, with a wide range of contests scheduled sched-uled in such activities as sewing, sew-ing, canning and cooking. Winners Win-ners in the various divisions will be entered in the state-wide contests at the annual State Fair which opens the following week. Another department that will attract much attention will be arts, crafts and hobbies division, and also a department for handwork hand-work by people over 70 years of age. ' Judging in all divisions will be done the first day of the Fair. All crop exhibits must be in place by 9 a. m. the first day of the exhibit, and livestock by 10 a. m. Articles of sewing, canning and other such divisions should be on display by noon the day before the opening of the Fair. Deadlines on all exhibits are listed in the premium book, a copy of which can be had from any member of the general committee com-mittee and heads of departments. A total of $2,000 Is offered for premiums for all divisions in the Fair. Entertainment feature of the Fair will include dancing each evening, with a rodeo and horse racing to be staged each afternoon after-noon of the last two days of the annual event. Mr. Brown and Mr. Guymon urge everyone in the county, farmers, livestock men, gardners, 4-H club members, housewives and hobbyists to participate in the County Fair. They also extend ex-tend an invitation to everyone to visit the exhibits during the three days and learn what Is being be-ing produced and accomplished by the residents of the county. |
