Show LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Last week the Iron County Record carried an extremely fine editorial about the Coal Creek canyon road, and the necessity for having this road surfaced across the mountain. The Chamber of Commerce officers would like to report that they too have felt, and since the opening of the tourist booth at the city park, now know that the surfacing of this road is a must. We have been working on this problem over the past several months. We find that through the Park Service this road can be finished by that service providing pro-viding the proper fund apportionment appor-tionment is made for this purpose. pur-pose. We understand our Representative, Representa-tive, Douglas Stringfellow, will visit Cedar City in the near future fu-ture and we are trying to take him on a trip over this road to show him first hand the necessity neces-sity of having the road surfaced, sur-faced, not only for tourist travel but for safety as well. We also plan on showing him the road from Cedar Breaks to Panguitch lake. Here again is a road that certainly is a disgrace to southern Utah. Information we have gathered at our information booth will prove without a doubt the need for better roads In southern Utah. We know that with the improvement im-provement of these roads our tourist travel will increase in this area. ARNOLD ANDERSON, President, Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. |
