Show Cedar City, Roche Softball All-stars Meet in Two Games Cedar City softball all-stars composed of players from the seven se-ven teams in the Cedar City league lost one game and won one in a double-header with a Pioche all-star team Sunday evening. eve-ning. In the opening game of the double-header Gordon Lytle of Pioche allowed only three hits to the Cedar City all-stars and shut them out by a 7 to 0 score in the seven innings of play. Playing errorless ball in the field the Pioche team scored 7 runs on five hi's and six errors on the Cedar City team. In tho fifth inning of play Pioche Pi-oche scored three runs on two hits and three errors. Doing the chucking for the Cedar City team was York Nelson and Mel Reeves with Dick Dotson and Tony Melissa Me-lissa sharing catching duty. From the mound Nelson was credite l with six strikeouts compared com-pared to only one for Lytle and none of Reeves, and Lytle and Reeves also allowed three walks each while Nelson refused to let a man make the free trip to first. Line score of the first game was as follows: Pioche 0 1 0 0 3 3 0....7 Cedar 0 0 0 0 0 0 0....0 In tho second game of the evening eve-ning the Cedar City all-stars, behind the pitching of George Sturznrggar, pulled out a victory of 5 to 3 after being outhit by Pioche 6 to 5. However, the Pioche Pi-oche nine, after playing errorless ball in the first game, made five costly errors in the second compared to one for Cedar City. Stevvr, the chucker for the first five innings in the second game, walked six men and was credited credit-ed with only one strikeout. Sturznoggar who went the distance dis-tance for Cedar struck out four and allowed only two walks. Boyd Adams and Melissa shared the catching duty to complete the battery for the second game. Line score of the second encounter en-counter is as follows: Pioche 0 0 0 1 1 1 0....3 Cedar 0 0 2 3 0 0 x 5 Funds derived from the Pioche-Cedar Pioche-Cedar City softball games will be turned over to the American Legion to defray a portion of that organization's expenses.
