Show Old Timers Honored By Power Co. fit Diesel Plant Party Twenty members of the Cedar City Old.Tirners club were guests of the Southern Utah Power company com-pany Saturday afternoon when they gathered at the diesel plant northwest of the city for their regular meeting. Samuel F. (Bud) Leigh, presided at the meeting. History of the power company and oi the Old Timers club was featuied at the meeting. William R. Palmer gave a historical sketcu of the club, telling how it was organized and giving some interesting sidelights on old nick-names used by the group in its members' younger days. I Following Mr. Palmer's talk Ralph R. Thomas, vice president ! and general manager of the Southern Utah Power company welcomed the group and explained ex-plained in detail how the company com-pany had first started in 1HH5, i and illustrated by Ihe use of a largo map the growth and expansion ex-pansion of the company year by year to the present time. After a tour of the diesel plant the group was taken through the switchyard and substation, where generating and high voltage- equipment and its o; (-ration was explained. During the program the "I!od-dy "I!od-dy Kilowatt" quartet, a company organization, sang three songs for the old timers. The quartet includes Neil Peterson, first tenor; ten-or; George D. Grimshaw, second tenor; William R. (Dolph) Grimshaw, Grim-shaw, baritone, and Edwin C. (Ted) Cox, bass. Mr. Thomas invited the group i to visit the steam plant, located in Cedar canvon, Pt som fut"-e' date to be arranged by club offi-cers offi-cers and company officials. |
